Since 1999, Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. has been the national corporate sponsor of National Public Lands Day, which is coordinationed by the National Environmental Education Foundation. In 2011, Toyota and NEEF also formed a new partnership to launch Public Lands Every Day to build capacity for friends organizations supporting public lands throughout the nation.
In addition to their sponsorship, for more than a decade Toyota has also encouraged their employees to get involved in National Public Lands Day activities throughout the nation by helping to care for parks, forests, rivers, beaches, shorelines and other public lands.
On September 27, 2014, more than 4,000 Toyota employees volunteered at 44 different public land areas.

Toyota operates under a Global Earth Charter which was set forth to promote environmental responsibility for every aspect of the company and significantly reduce the impact that Toyota's vehicles have on the planet. Sponsorship of national and regional environmental preservation projects is just one of many areas in which Toyota has proven its environmental stewardship. The company created the world's first mass-produced, clean-running gas/electric hybrid car, the Prius, which has received numerous environmental awards, most notably from the Sierra Club and National Wildlife Federation.
